Steve Kirsch (Part 2) on Kristina Borjesson Show - 29 May 2022
Tech entrepreneur and philanthropist Steve Kirsch talks about walking into a wall of corruption after setting up an Covid-19 Early Treatment fund for identifying and getting FDA approval for off-label use of safe, existing drugs that had been demonstrably successful for treating covid-19 in its early stages. Kirsch, who has a track record of funding medical research, would like to see more research done on re-purposing cheap, safe drugs that show promise for treating diseases other than those for which they were originally intended.
GUEST OVERVIEW: Steve Kirsch is a silicon valley philanthropist. He is the inventor of the optical mouse and one of the first internet search engines, Infoseek. He started 7 high tech companies, 2 with billion dollar market caps. He has a BS/MS in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT. He founded the COVID early treatment fund to fund outpatient clinical trials of repurposed drugs. Steve quickly came to believe that the fastest, most effective way to reduce fatalities is by leveraging existing drugs to treat patients at the onset of infection. He also identified a surprising lack of funded research in the space, which led to the creation of the COVID19 Early Treatment Fund.
