Hon Barnaby Joyce MP on The George Christensen Show - 26 February 2023
GUEST OVERVIEW: Barnaby Joyce is an Australian politician, former Deputy Prime Minister and former leader of The Nationals party. Originally a Senator, he served for 8 years and then resigned from the Senate in 2013 to contest the Federal Seat of New England. Barnaby's passion for rural and regional Australians, which has earned respect from both sides of the political divide, drives his advocacy. Joyce was elected to head The Nationals Senate team in Queensland in 2004 and, in 2009, was elected to the role of The Nationals Leader in The Senate. Following the election of the Coalition to Government in September 2013, Joyce was appointed Federal Minister for Agriculture and Deputy Leader of The Nationals. In February 2016, he was elected unopposed as Leader of The Nationals and was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister. He stepped down from his ministerial positions in Cabinet in February 2018 but, on 21 June 2021, was re-elected as the Leader of the Nationals, becoming Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development.
