Helen Buyniski on The Dirk Pohlmann Show - 8 July 2023
GUEST OVERVIEW: Helen Buyniski is a US journalist investigating the dark world of Wikipedia. The encyclopedia pretends to be an open source enterprise collecting the knowledge of the world. But what Helen Buyniski found out about the US or English language wikipedia dovetails with what my colleague Markus Fiedler and me reported on the German wikipedia. The German and English wikipedia is run by a small in-group of editors, who enjoy the power to tell the rest of the world what to think about events and persons. In both wikipedias 2 percent of the editors produce 80% of the content. They dominate the landscape like a military junta. The block authors, who don’t follow their Weltanschauung. Wikipedia might be a good tool, if you are interested in biology - but not if you want to get information on Glyphosate. It might be a valuable source of information about the US civil war - but not about the US campaign in Ukraine. It is among the top ten. Most clicked worldwide websites and a tool in an undeclared information war.
