GUEST OVERVIEW: Professor James Allan is the Garrick Professor in Law at The University of Queensland. Before arriving in Australia in February of 2005 he spent 11 years teaching law in New Zealand at the University of Otago and before that lectured law in Hong Kong. Professor Allan is a native born Canadian who practised law in a large Toronto law firm and at the Bar in London before shifting to teaching law. Professor Allan has published widely in the areas of legal philosophy and constitutional law, including in all the top English language legal philosophy journals in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia, much the same being true of constitutional law journals as well. Professor Allan also has a sideline interest in bills of rights; he is opposed to them. Indeed he is delighted to have moved to a country without a national bill of rights. He has been actively involved in the efforts trying to stop one from being enacted here in Australia. Professor Allan also writes widely for newspapers and weeklies, including The Australian, The Spectator Australia and Quadrant.

Dr Jackie Stone on Politically Incorrect - 10 September 2022

GUEST OVERVIEW: Dr Jackie Stone (MBChB, BSc MED Hons, MRCP, FRACGP, D Av Med, FACAsM) is a Zimbabwean Primary Care Physician who grew up in Zimbabwe. She graduated from the University of Cape Town Cum Laude in 1989 and went on to get a Medical Research Council Scholarship to do an Honours degree in Medical Biochemistry which she completed in 1992. She now lives in Zimbabwe and is on the Executive Committee of the Zimbabwe COVID Front Line Clinicians Society who advocate for saving lives through early, safe, effective, affordable combination therapy.

Alistair Pope on Politically Incorrect - 03 September 2022

GUEST OVERVIEW: Alistair Pope emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland to Perth, WA in 1964. His first job in Australia was surveying the roads and railways to be built for the new iron ore mining projects in the Pilbara. He then joined Cooper Brothers as a Cadet Accountant before enlisting the Army by volunteering for National Service (one of less than 400 young Australians who did so). He was selected for Officer Training at Scheyville and graduated as a 2LT in 1967. He served in Vietnam, Indonesia and PNG, and as a sub-unit Commander in 3rd Brigade. In 1981 he attended Army Staff College, Queenscliff. Three years after graduation, he was promoted to the senior officer rank of LtCol. After 20-years-service he retired from the Australian Army in 1986. He founded his own business and worked internationally as a Project Manager in the energy, oil & gas, biotechnology and telecommunications industries until his retirement. Alistair retains a keen interest in current affairs, current military matters and military history. He has had 200+ articles published in The Scheyvillian, Strategy & Tactics, World at War, Modern War, Camaraderie, Harim Tok Tok, Quadrant, Quadrant Online and the Australian Chess Quarterly.

Previously he was president of IFOAM—Organics International, the international umbrella organization for the organic sector. IFOAM, which has about 850 member organisations in 127 countries, was a founding member of RI. During his tenure as president of IFOAM, Leu served on the RI steering committee. During 40-plus years of visiting and working in more than 100 countries, Leu acquired an extensive knowledge of farming and environmental systems across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Australasia. He and his wife, Julia, run an organic tropical fruit farm in Daintree, Australia. He is the author of “Poisoning our Children” and the “Myths of Safe Pesticides.”

GUEST OVERVIEW: Professor Edward J (Ted) Steele is a molecular and cellular immunologist, geneticist and microbiologist and the author of six books and over 100 scientific research papers. He conducted research and taught at the Australian National University’s John Curtin School of Medical Research and worked at The University of Toronto’s Ontario Cancer Institute, The Welcome Trust in the UK and The University of Wollongong. Professor Steele is a C.Y. O’Connor Foundation Life Fellow and currently lives and works in Melbourne consulting in cancer research and other areas of biomedical biotech R&D. Since 2015, Professor Steele has been publishing on Cosmic Biology data, combining his biomedical genetic experience.

Dr Peter Ridd on Politically Incorrect - 30 July 2022

GUEST OVERVIEW: Dr Peter Ridd is a geophysicist with over 100 publications and 35 years’ experience working on the Great Barrier Reef and developed a wide range of world-first optical and electronic instruments for measuring environmental conditions near corals and other ecosystems. He was head of Physics at James Cook University for over a decade before being fired, in 2018, for questioning the quality assurance systems used by reef science institutions. Some of the poor-quality work relates to the effect, or lack of effect, of climate change, and agriculture, on the reef. Dr Ridd now works, unpaid, with agricultural organisations, and the Institute of Public Affairs to improve quality assurance systems of “science” used by Australian governments to make environmental laws and regulations.
