David Legates on Unleashed with Marc Morano - 03 May 2024

GUEST OVERVIEW: David Legates is a Climatologist who specializes in precipitation and climate change as well as spatial statistics.
Upon receiving his PhD, Legates became a Professor at the University of Oklahoma. He later moved to Louisiana State University and subsequently returned to the University of Delaware. Recently, he was on leave to the federal government where he served as the Assistant Deputy Secretary of Commerce for Environmental Observation and Prediction and was detailed to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy as the Executive Director of the United States Global Change Research Program.
Legates has been invited to speak to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works on three separate occasions. He also participated in the historic joint USA-USSR protocol for the exchange of climate information. He is now Professor Emeritus from the University of Delaware and works for the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation.
Legates received his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and PhD from the University of Delaware.

Diana Furchtgott-Roth (born 1958) is an American economist who is adjunct professorof economics at George Washington University and a columnist. She served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology at the United States Department of Transportation during the Trump administration. She previously served as Acting Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Prior to joining the Trump Administration, Furchtgott-Roth served as a senior fellow and director of Economics21 at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research. She was nominated by President Donald Trump to become Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Research and Technology. On January 3, 2021, her nomination was returned to the President under Rule XXXI, Paragraph 6 of the United States Senate. Furchtgott-Roth was previously the chief economist of the United States Department of Labor, chief of staff of the President's Council of Economic Advisers, deputy executive director of the United States Domestic Policy Council, and junior staff economist at the Council of Economic Advisers.

Subsequently he joined the Netherlands Ministry of Defense and was posted at the Netherlands Permanent Representation at NATO (the North Atlantic Treaty Organization) in Brussels. Thereafter he joined the Netherlands diplomatic service and was posted in Stockholm. After that he held various functions at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague before he became deputy head of the policy planning staff. Subsequently he was posted at the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) in Paris as deputy Permanent Representative. After a couple of years he was posted as a senior visiting fellow and advisor to the board at the Clingendael Institute of International Relations in The Hague.
