On today's show, singer/songwriter Patch Croome talks about his love for hockey, shares his approach to marketing in a TikTok world, and tells a handful of behind-the-scenes stories that provide insight into his band, Daring Greatly's past, present and future. GUEST OVERVIEW: Patrick (Patch) Croome is a Canadian singer/songwriter/guitar player mostly known for his work with the band Daring Greatly, where he is joined by his younger brother Liam on the keys, their best bud Brayden Tario on the drums, and Brendan Cutrer on the bass. Patch, Liam and Brayden have been a part of Daring Greatly since the bands inception back in 2016, where they made the leap to leave everything behind and move to California with hopes to pursue their music passions. After quickly realizing LA wasn’t the right spot for them, they made the move to San Diego and have been based there for 8 years and running. Daring Greatly most recently took home Song of the Year at the 2023 San Diego Music Awards, and were nominated in 3 different categories for the 2024 awards including Best Rock Artist, Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year. Patch plays mostly acoustic guitar on stage but also dabbles with electric guitar and bass throughout Daring Greatly’s dynamic rock n roll set. He also plays a large role in the songwriting process. Steve also plays a few licks on his guitar, including a full live version of his song (co-written with Andy Partridge) FOURTH OF JULY. GUEST OVERVIEW: Steve Conte is an American musician; guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer & music educator – both on tour and in studios around the world. His most recent album, Bronx Cheer was released on Little Steven Van Zandt’s label, Wicked Cool Records in the fall of 2021 to great critical acclaim. The album spawned 5 singles, 3 of which were featured as “Coolest Songs In The World” on the Underground Garage Radio Program. Steve is currently working on a new release for Wicked Cool Records on which he has written 5 of the album’s 10 songs with his songwriting hero – the incomparable Andy Partridge of XTC. Besides a rich solo-career, Conte has recently been instrumental in helping some legendary artists like the New York Dolls get their groove back. After 6 years, 4 albums and a never-ending World Tour with the Dolls, he joined up with former Hanoi Rocks front man Michael Monroe as guitarist, songwriter and backing vocalist to release 5 albums of new original material. On the Horns And Halos album (2013 Spinefarm) Conte wrote the lion’s share of the songs and it was nominated for “Album Of The Year” by the Finnish “Grammys” as well as The Nordic Music Prize. GUEST OVERVIEW: Two-time Grammy nominee Tracy Bonham is a classically trained violinist, pianist, and vocalist turned alt-rock singer-songwriter. She built up a local following and signed to Island Records in 1995. Her debut album, “The Burdens of Being Upright” (1996), was a critical and commercial success. It earned her two Grammy nominations and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) less than a year after its release. The album’s lead single, “Mother Mother”, topped the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart in June 1996.
