Her last book, Keeping Their Marbles: How the Treasures of the Past Ended Up in Museums and Why They Should Stay There (OUP) was published to critical acclaim. She was a columnist for the Scotsman for over 5 years. Other writing credits include the Financial Times, Guardian, Observer and the Spectator. Additional Broadcasting credits includes the BBC Radio 4 programme ‘Beauty and the Brain’, which explored what science can tell us about art. She is a regular on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row. She is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh; and a former Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics. Her Phd is in sociology; her BSC in art history.

He studied art at London’s Goldsmiths College and his reviews, articles and commentaries have appeared in publications including Art Monthly, Time Out, the Telegraph and the Spectator. Since 2006, he has worked on the editorial staff of the international art magazine ArtReview, where he is now editor. He has a PhD in art history from the Royal College of Art, and his book on British art criticism in the 1970s will be published by Routledge in 2023.
