GUEST OVERVIEW: Ray McGinnis taught poetry, journal writing and memoir workshops from the late 1990s until the pandemic. He is author of Writing the Sacred: A Psalm-inspired Path to Writing and Appreciating Sacred Poetry (2005) and Unanswered Questions: What the September Eleventh Families Asked and the 9/11 Commission Ignored (2021). He became aware of the disconnect between mainstream coverage of the Freedom Convoy and livestream and other posts of the protests as they were unfolding. In mid-November he flew to Ottawa for a week to attend public hearings of the Commission investigating the necessity of invoking the Emergencies Act. He lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.
