Tony Nikolic & Rosie Cornell on Jason Q Citizen & Friends - 13 January 2023
On today's show Tony Nikolic discusses his recent article in the Spectator, "Truth is knowledge held back by power – where did the burden of proof go?", and Rosie Cornell talks about how authorities in Western Australia are misusing stalking laws to stop genuine political protests.
GUEST 1 OVERVIEW: Tony Nikolic is General Manager of AFL Solicitors. He is a highly accomplished Lawyer and Criminologist with a great passion for learning about law and providing efficient and effective legal aid to clients to achieve favorable outcomes. Committed to social justice, he consistently offers pro bono legal work and devotes a portion of his time to disadvantaged persons; aiming to make a positive difference in their lives whilst contributing to the betterment of society. He also has a background in both criminology and whistleblower protections.
GUEST 2 OVERVIEW: Rosie Cornell is an accomplished lawyer. She lives in Western Australia and is employed by a Queensland law firm. Currently she is dealing with human rights, employment law and other niche matters. Rosie completed her law degree, through Charles Darwin University, later in life because of a Royal Commissionesque issue with her bank, having lost everything at Summary Judgment. Three years later when she sued the bank for damages, the matter was settled out of court. Initially, Rosie couldn’t understand how the bank managed to get everything, leaving her broke despite a bank settlement. She started her law degree solely to become an expert so she could talk about what happened as an expert and not as a victim. During her last university semester, Rosie decided that she would quite like to be a lawyer.
